  15. For Portfolio Model only: Cross Reports: Cross reports are to navigate from one report(source) to another(target) by drill-through option. For example if you need to navigate from Portfolio report to a Program report or a project report under a portfolio you will need a cross-report functionality. Cross report functionality will work only in Power BI service and not on the desktop. To make cross reports work follow the below steps 15 to steps 18.

  16. After your Program, Project, and Portfolio reports are published into your workspace (follow the steps in Reports Deployment – Release 3.2 before continuing)
Open the Portfolio Data model and enter their respective report IDs. To get the report IDs open the report and get the reportid like shown below.

    Report Param

  17. Then navigate by clicking on Transform data. Once Power Query window opens then enter the report ids as highlighted below.

    New Report Param config

Then save and publish the data model into your workspace.

  18. Example of a Cross report functionality. Below example is a page from Portfolio report (Porfolio on a page).

    New Cross Report Example

This shows the navigation to a Program dashboard from Portfolio dashboard. This would work only if cross report functionality is setup correctly.

  19. Navigation of Cross reports:

In the above example of cross reports once you click on cross report drill through it will take you to the target report like shown below. Do not click on the back arrow on the browser to navigate back but instead click on the back arrow in the report as shown below. Red highlight is "Dont do" and yellow highlight is "correct". When you click on the back arrow (yellow highlighted) it will open up on a new tab and then it will ask you to choose your account details and then will take you back to the home page of the source report (in our example its the portfolio report)

  20. Program report has the same cross report functionality like Portfolio report but instead it navigates to the project report (target) from Program report.
